Christmas Wreaths have been used to add festive décor to your front door and invite visitors in throughout the years.
We’ll share some simple steps you can take in creating a wreath of your very own this Christmas.
Depending on the style wreath you want to make, they can be simple and elegant or contemporary. Your unique style will flow through your wreath if you simply follow your impulse. Allow your imagination to take control and choose the theme you like.
To make a wreath, all you need is your creative skills along with a few supplies. Wreaths work great inside or out, depending on what they’re made with. Traditionally, evergreens were always the general make up of Christmas wreaths.
Grab your scissors and a bag and go for a walk in your own backyard, local park or even along the side of the road. Collect vegetation of all sorts, ranging from evergreens to ivy and loral leaf. The varying plants will differ in color and texture, making a wonderful base for your wreath.
In addition to the greenery, forage for some holly berries and pinecones to add color to your wreath. Even grapevines or seedpods can be sprayed with gold, silver or white paint, adding interest to your creation. And don’t forget about ornaments, ribbon and dried flowers. Whatever catches your eye is a possibility.
Follow the basic steps listed below and put your creativity in charge.
Christmas wreath craft supplies are available at various places. Simply check out your local florist and craft store or even shop online.
The basic supplies you’ll need include the following:
-wire cutting tool
-wreath ring
-florist wires, tape and picks
-scissors
For best results, you should work on a large flat surface such as a tabletop. To begin creating your wreath, you’ll need to cut a few pieces of florist wire. Wrap the wire around the bottom of each piece of greenery, cut to size, and attach this around the wreath ring, using additional wire and florist picks to help secure to the ring.
When filling the wreath ring, it is important to use the inner and outer rings separately. By filling both rings, your wreath will turn out full and plush. When doing this step, be sure to attach all stems in the same direction to each ring. This will give the wreath the best, most professional look. Repeat this step until the wreath ring is covered to your satisfaction.
The next step is to attach the “feature” pieces. These would be the pine cones, berries, ornaments, etc. They’re attached on the upper layer of the wreath so they will be visible. To add these items, wrap floral wire into the base of each piece. Twist the wire stems firmly together to secure, and attach to the wreath by using additional floral wire and picks. Be sure they are bound tightly on the backside of the wreath.
Add the “feature” pieces carefully, so as not to overcrowd or cause your wreath to be disproportionate. Remember to let your creativity take charge. In the end you’ll have created your own Christmas wreath to hang on your front door for all to see and feel warmly welcomed.
